BENGALURU: TCS has retained its 10th position among the top global BPM (business process management) providers in 2021, as per estimates by outsourcing consultancy Everest Group. The ranking is based on a composite score of revenue, which was over $3 billion for TCS, and revenue growth, which grew by 14-16% over 2020.
Everest uses the term BPS or business process services to describe the segment.
The top 5 BPM players in terms of revenue were ADP, Teleperformance, Accenture, Concentrix and Sitel Group. ADP had revenue of $10.5 billion.
The top 5 fastest growing companies year-on-year were Tech Mahindra, Telus International, Majorel, Teleperformance and Comdata. The BPM businesses of Infosys, Wipro and Tech Mahindra were ranked at 20, 21 and 22 with revenue of $1.3 billion, $1.4-$1.5 billion and $675 million respectively.

The Everest Group’s top 50 ranking is based on both revenue and year-on-year growth. Revenues comprise 75% of the composite score, and growth 25%. Growth has two sub-parameters: absolute growth (measured as change in revenue in US dollar million and accounting for 12.5% of the composite score) and percentage growth (measured as percentage change in BPM revenue and accounting for the other 12.5%).
Everest’s report said the top 50 BPM providers grew at 12.5-13% versus 1-2% in 2020. “Providers that managed the Covid crisis well and continued to invest in next-gen capabilities anchored around the BPS 4.0 value proposition grew significantly above the market average. This also meant we saw considerable volatility in the rankings, with over 50% of the listed providers’ rankings shifting by five or more positions, compared to 42% last year. Secondly, IT-BPS providers grew faster than pure play BPS providers (14.9% vs 11.8%), partly due to greater prevalence of integrated IT-BPS deals,” said Rajesh Ranjan, partner at Everest Group.
The top 50 providers added $11.8 billion in incremental revenue in 2021, an eight fold increase from 2020. The top ten providers contributed about 60% of the total incremental revenue, the providers ranked from 11 to 50 added more than $5 billion in revenue in 2021.
