India extends suspension of UK flights till January 7 – Times of India

“Decision has been taken to extend the temporary suspension of flights to and from the UK till January 7, 2021. Thereafter strictly regulated resumption will take place for which details will be announced shortly,” aviation minister H S Puri tweeted on Wednesday.

India-UK have 67 weekly flights operated by four airlines — Air India, Vistara, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. Almost 2,000-2,500 passengers used to fly in daily on these flights.

“We went back to November 25 and did contact tracing and genie sequencing of passengers who had directly or indirectly come from UK since that date. So far, six people who came from the UK have so far been reported to have been detected with the new Covid strain,” Puri had said on Tuesday.
