MUMBAI: The government has appointed four members to the board of the RBI — industrialists Anand Mahindra, Pankaj Patel & Venu Srinivasan, and academic Ravindra Dholakia. The appointees will be directors for a period of four years with effect from June 14, 2022.
Mahindra is the chairman of the Mahindra Group. Patel is chairman of Zydus Lifesciences. Srinivasan is the chairman emeritus of TVS Motor Company. Dholakia, an economist and member of the first monetary policy committee, is a retired professor of IIM-A.
At present the board, besides the governor Shaktikanta Das and four deputy governors, includes former deputy comptroller & auditor general Revathy Iyer, Research and Information System for Developing Countries DG Sachin Chaturvedi, CA S Gurumurthy, and veteran banker S K Marathe. The government members are economic affairs secretary Ajay Seth, and department of financial services secretary Sanjay Malhotra.
