NEW DELHI: The price of domestic liquified petroleum gas (LPG) has been hiked by Rs 25 with effect from August 17, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday.
After the latest hike by petroleum companies, a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 859.50 apiece in Delhi as compared to Rs 834.50 earlier.
Earlier on July 1, the price of the LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 25.50.
LPG prices are mostly revised in the beginning of every month. The price of cooking gas has been increased by Rs 165 per cylinder in the last seven months.
Consumers have to pay the market price and the government is supposed to give subsidy to domestic consumers covered under the subsidy.
However, the subsidy was erased in metros and major cities through successive price increases over the past couple of years.
For example, in Delhi consumers have been paying the market price without subsidy support.
