Got both doses of Covishield: Spain reopens for desis; UAE allows residency permit holders to return – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Get ready to say hola! Spain has reopened for fully vaccinated Indians — those with Covishield and not Covaxin — from Monday (August 2).
Travellers should have received the second jab at least 14 days before their planned visit to Spain.
Further, UAE has allowed fully vaccinated — again at least 14 days before they plan to travel — holders of valid residency permits from India and five other countries to return from Thursday (August 5).
While restrictions on travel from India to UAE remain, full jabbed residency permit holders have been added to the category exempt from the same.
“We have resumed acceptance of all visa categories for Spain from August 2. Initially only Delhi and Nepal centre’s are operational to accept the applications. Applicants needs to be fully vaccinated before entering Spain, otherwise they will be rejected to board by airlines or by immigration authorities,” the website of BLS International says.
“Furthermore, if travelling with Schengen visa, they will be asked to present a valid vaccination certificate to enter Spain and must fulfill all sanitary requirements on COVID imposed by Spain. Vaccination should be recognised by the European Union and WHO. (Covishield is recognized by Spain, but Covaxin not yet). UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority tweeted on Tuesday, saying (translated): “Announcing the exclusion of new categories of travellers from some countries from which entry has been prohibited, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda, as of August 5.” This new category of exemption is for fully vaccinated (by recognised vaccines) residency permit holders.
The website of Abu Dhabi-based Etihad says: “Following the latest UAE government directives, passenger travel from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to the UAE and Etihad’s network has been suspended until August 7, 2021…. this is an evolving situation, and this date may have to be extended in line with government mandates.”
“Etihad will not be permitted to carry passengers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or India. However UAE nationals, Diplomatic missions, official delegations and Golden residence holders are exempted from the UAE entry restriction. These passengers will be subject to acceptance and quarantine conditions. Etihad will continue to operate flights to all four countries. Cargo flights will continue to operate in both directions without any impact,” Etihad website adds.
