Dubai allows its fully vaccinated residents from India to enter from June 23 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Dubai will from Wednesday (June 23) allow entry to residents from India — who have received two jabs of UAE-approved Covid vaccines — as “part of its easing inbound travel restrictions.” Under this, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has introduced new entry protocols from travellers from South Africa, Nigeria and India.
The Dubai government’s guidelines about the relaxation for India:
1. Residents should have received two doses of a vaccine approved by UAE authorities.
2. Passengers must have received a negative test result for a PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure; UAE citizens are exempted.
3. Only QR coded PCR test result certificates are accepted.
4. All passengers should take a rapid PCR test 4 hours prior to flight departure.
5. All passengers must undergo a PCR test on arrival at Dubai Airport.
6. Passengers should undergo institutional quarantine until they receive their PCR test result, which is expected within 24 hours; UAE citizens and diplomats are exempted.
UAE, the biggest international destination for Indian travellers, had imposed restrictions from April-end due to the unfolding Covid catastrophe here.
The Emirates website says it “has suspended passenger flights from India effective April 24, 2021, until July 6, 2021. Furthermore, passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE. UAE Nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with the revised published COVID‑19 protocols will be exempt for travel.”
Earlier this week, UAE had allowed silver residency permit holders — in addition to gold permits — from India and other countries in the subcontinent like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka to enter. The arrivals will need to allow strict Covid protocol.
About the relaxations that will allowed from June 23, the Dubai government says: “The updates are part of the committee’s keenness to protect passengers and ease hassles for them without compromising on Covid-19 precautionary measures put in place to safeguard everyone’s health and wellbeing.”
“With regard to travel from India, only passengers with a valid residence visa who have received two doses of a UAE-approved vaccine, are allowed to travel to Dubai. They should also present a negative test certificate from a PCR test taken 48 hours before departure; UAE nationals are exempted from this requirement. Only QR-coded negative PCR test certificates are accepted. Furthermore, passengers from India are required to undergo a rapid PCR test four hours prior to departure to Dubai. They must also undergo another PCR test on arrival in Dubai. In addition, following arrival, passengers from India should undergo institutional quarantine until they receive their PCR test result, which is expected within 24 hours. UAE citizens and diplomats are exempted from institutional quarantine,” it says.
