Has it ever happened to you that you decided to take nap for thirty minutes and you ended up dozing off for two hours? Result – You are up all throughout the night contemplating life, molecules, atoms and the Universe. Is not it true that we have all been there at some or the other point in life? Well, in most cases, this happens to all of us and that too repeatedly.

  • A bad nap can end upsetting your sleep cycle leaving you tired as if you have not slept at all. In fact, chances are that you will become grumpy.
  • A good nap leaves you refreshed and you are all set to take on the remaining part of the day and again doze off to sleep at the night peacefully.
  • Those who think that making-up for the lost night’s sleep the next day would make it better, then think again because it is going to disrupt your biological system putting you just out of clock. half asleep often leaves you feeling low and fatigue throughout the day because of the loop you have put in your sleep pattern.
  • It is important to know that the duration of mid-day nap should be between twenty to forty minutes. Longer than that would only affect your sleeping cycle. This is also known as power nap. Often extension of this time slips you into deep a slumber that might leave you tired.
  • Nighttime’s sleep has completely different importance in comparison to the noontime slumber. It is a goodnight sleep which makes for a consolidate package and is responsible for core functioning. A nap in the day should be like a break for revitalizing and should not interfere with night’s sleep.
  • Napping has to be a one-time act. In other words, one short-nap in the middle of the day is all you need to remain active. No matter how much your body might beg for another round of sleep, make sure you do not indulge.
  • When you are taking an afternoon nap, make sure it is accompanied by an alarm clock. There are several perks of a well-timed nap including you can sleep without any worry of waking up every five minutes.
  • Not many people are aware but midday nap should be completed before 3 PM. If you fail to do so then your night’s sleep might get hampered.
  • In case, you are feeling drowsy post noon sleep, chances are that you have had not got the right amount of sleep the preceding night. If this feeling continues then consult a doctor as you might be suffering from sleep apnea. It is a disorder that can have negative effects on your system.
  • There are many people who are not natural born napsters. If so is the case with you then there is no need to fret at all. If midday sleep is not the thing for you then look for an alternative such as taking brisk walks, regular stretches and drinking a glass of chilled water to keep you refreshed in the middle of the day.
